Drass, May 7:
DC-Drass, Imteeaz Kacho and SP-Drass Ishtyaq Kacho today visited the Zojila Axis along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vishal Atri and officials of BRO and Drass Police to take stock of the movement of traffic. They were also joined by DSP, Traffic (Rural), Kashmir (J&K) and SO (Traffic), Sonamarg (J&K).
A thorough assessment was made regarding condition of the road vis-à-vis movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) and Light Motor Vehicles (LMV). The need for snow clearance on vulnerable locations of the Zojila Axis was also reviewed.
Later on, the DC, SP and SDM stopped at Meenamarg Check Post and took stock of the cleanliness and functioning of the facility. The DC stressed on giving the location a proper facelift as it happens to be the entry point of the Union Territory of Ladakh. He passed instructions for cleaning the entire stretch and for planting saplings on both sides of the entry gate. The need to having a big truck/ bus terminal at the site with proper washroom and eating facilities was also discussed.
