Unemployment among educated youth in Ladakh is a growing concern. Many students complete their education with hopes of securing stable jobs, but limited employment opportunities, a lack of industries, and heavy dependence on government recruitment create challenges. While Ladakh has great potential in tourism, renewable energy, handicrafts, and entrepreneurship, more investment in skill development and private-sector growth is needed. Creating diverse job opportunities will help talented young people build successful careers within Ladakh and contribute to the region’s long-term development.I completed my B.Tech in Civil Engineering with hopes of serving and contributing to the development of Ladakh. Unfortunately, the lack of government job advertisements has left many qualified graduates waiting without opportunities. Years of hard work, education, and investment should be matched with timely recruitment and transparent hiring processes. The authorities need to address the growing unemployment among educated youth and create opportunities so that skilled professionals can contribute to the region’s progress.
