Students Visit SRMC Chiktan to Learn Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability
Kargil, May 09, 2026: Students from KGBV School Chiktan and PM Shri School Chiktan visited the SRMC Chiktan today under a one-day field visit programme aimed at promoting awareness about waste management and environmental sustainability.
During the visit, a brief lecture was delivered by BDO Shaker Chiktan on the functioning of the SRMC and the importance of segregation of waste at the household level. The students were also informed about the role of proper waste segregation in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment.
At the conclusion of the programme, both the teachers and students appreciated the segregation initiatives being undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) and the effective waste management practices at SRMC Chiktan.
The participants were sensitized about the importance of source segregation of waste and were encouraged to adopt segregation of wet, dry,sanitary and hazardous waste at household level for effective solid waste management.
