In Ladakh, National Coach Mohd Abbass Nordakh from Ladakh, along with his student skater Skarma Tsultim, is currently participating in the prestigious Team India Elite Camp being held at Himadri Ice Rink, Dehradun, from May 12 to 26.
The camp, organized by the Ice Skating Association of India, has brought together top ice skaters from across the country for an intensive training programme. The initiative aims to enhance performance standards through advanced coaching sessions, seminars, and a specialised Bio-Mechanics Master Class.
A key highlight of the camp is the presence of renowned Olympic coach Frédéric Blackburn, who is mentoring athletes and coaches with modern training techniques and international-level expertise.
The elite camp forms an important part of India’s long-term sports development roadmap, focusing on preparing athletes for upcoming National Championships and international competitions. It also aims to build a strong pathway towards the Youth Olympic Games 2028 and the 2030 Winter Olympic Games.
The participation of Ladakh’s coach and athlete in such a high-level camp reflects the growing prominence of the region in winter sports and its contribution to India’s ice skating landscape.
