Massive Beautification Drive Continues in Kargil; Over 70 Unused Poles Removed in Three Days
Kargil, May 19, 2026: In continuation of the ongoing beautification and clearance drive initiated on the directions of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, the extraction of unnecessary BSNL, electrical and other agency poles continued for the third consecutive day in Kargil town.
Under the supervision of ADDC Kargil, Ghulam Mohd, (JKAS) the drive was carried out from Haidary Mohalla to Lok Niwas Baroo, during which more than 70 electrical and other unused poles, along with redundant wires and related materials, were removed.
Further, 15 unused electrical poles were also extracted today from Bus Stand up to Shilikchay as part of the ongoing campaign.
ADDC said that the initiative is aimed at improving the aesthetic appearance of Kargil town, ensuring smooth movement of commuters and reducing unnecessary congestion caused by old and unused poles and overhead wiring.
He further added that the District Administration reiterated that the campaign will continue in other areas as well in a phased manner with public cooperation, officials and staff from the Municipal Committee Kargil, Revenue Department, BSNL, Power Development Department and other concerned agencies actively participated in the drive.
