Govt. Degree College Zanskar Organizes On-Spot Essay Competition for School Students
Zanskar, May 21, 2026: Government Degree College Zanskar today organized an on-spot essay competition for students of Classes 9th to 12th from various schools across Zanskar. The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi and coordinated by Dr. Varun Dixit, Assistant Professor, Political Science.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing different schools, who actively took part in the competition and showcased their creative and analytical writing skills.
Apart from the competition, the visiting students were also provided an opportunity to explore and understand various laboratory instruments and facilities available in the college. The lab demonstrations were presented by Dr. Sabir Hussain, Assistant Professor, Botany, and Dr. Ihsan Ullah Lone, Assistant Professor, Geology, who explained the functioning and importance of different laboratory instruments used in scientific studies, lab work and research.
During the programme, Principal, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi interacted with the students and briefed them about the college, academic opportunities, and the importance of participating in co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside regular academics for their overall personality development. He encouraged the students to actively engage in such competitions to enhance their confidence, knowledge, and communication skills.
The event concluded on a positive note with appreciation for the active participation of students and schools, making the programme both informative and inspiring for the young learners.
