The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several Himalayan states as an intense western disturbance moves eastward over North India.According to the latest INSAT-3DS thermal infrared satellite imagery, a massive spiral-shaped cloud system has developed over the upper Himalayan region, covering Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The satellite visuals indicate strong moisture activity and unstable atmospheric conditions, raising the possibility of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming hours.Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, and follow official advisories issued by local administrations and disaster management agencies. The weather system is expected to bring widespread rain, sudden wind activity, and possible disruptions in hilly regions. Tourists and commuters are especially urged to exercise caution.
