Drass, July 24, 2026: The fourth day of the ongoing 6th Lieutenant Governor (LG) Cup Horse Polo Championship 2026 witnessed thrilling action at the International Horse Polo Stadium, Drass, attracting a large gathering of polo enthusiasts and local spectators.
Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho visited the stadium and watched the matches apart from interacting with organizing staff, media persons and players. He was accompanied by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Drass, Mohammad Ishaq; Police Inspector Mohammad Jamil, officials of the Department of Youth Services & Sports.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed delight at the way the matches were being played and thanked the Department of Youth Services & Sports for the arrangments in place. He appreciated the players for their dedication, discipline and true sportsmanship. He lauded their commitment towards preserving Ladakh’s rich horse polo tradition and boosted their morale by extending his best wishes for the remaining matches of the championship.
The events of the fourth day featured four participating teams. The first match was played between Young Yulbu and D’ Meadows, followed by the second match between Polo Panthers and Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC). Both matches showcased impressive horsemanship, teamwork and competitive spirit, keeping the spectators engaged throughout the day.
The ongoing championship continues to celebrate the rich tradition of horse polo in Ladakh while providing a platform for talented players to demonstrate their skills. The tournament has drawn enthusiastic public participation and remains a significant sporting event in Drass, promoting sportsmanship, preserving the region’s cultural heritage and encouraging greater youth participation in traditional sports.
