8 Boxers from Ladakh Participate in U-17 National Boxing Championship; Nusrat Fatima Wins Opening Bout

Eight young boxers from Ladakh are representing the Union Territory in the ongoing U-17 Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championship 2026 being held at Nagpur, Maharashtra from April 5 to 11.

On the opening day of the championship, Nusrat Fatima from Kargil secured a victory in her first bout against a boxer from Odisha, bringing pride to Ladakh.

According to the Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association, four boys and four girls are representing Ladakh in the championship.

The boys include Dilshad Ali and Afiyat Hashmat from Leh, and Mohd Askary and Arif Hussain from Kargil.

The girls representing Ladakh are Nusrat Fatima from Kargil, Stanzin Tsomo and Stanzin Tsayang from Zanskar, and Yasmeen Fatima from Wakha.

President Tsewang Motup Goba and General Secretary Tenzin Chosgyal Mankhangpa congratulated Nusrat Fatima on her victory and extended their best wishes to the entire Ladakh team for success in the upcoming bouts. They also assured the players of full support from the association.
