LG Ladakh Reviews Civic and Commercial Issues During Visit to Kargil Market
Kargil, Ladakh: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh visited the bustling town market of Kargil, taking a walk through its lanes along with Chairman/CEC Kargil, Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Ladakh), Mohd Haneefa Jan, and President of JUAIK, Sheikh Nazir-Ul-Mehdi.
The visit provided an opportunity for direct interaction with local residents, traders, and other stakeholders, enabling the administration to assess the pressing issues impacting daily commercial activities and urban management in Kargil town.
During the interaction, members of the trading community highlighted several key concerns, including inadequate parking facilities, increasing traffic congestion, and the lack of essential public utilities, particularly in light of the growing tourist footfall in the market area.
Taking cognizance of these concerns, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, to formulate a comprehensive action plan in consultation with market stakeholders. The plan will prioritize the development of adequate parking infrastructure, improved sanitation, provision of public conveniences, and an overall aesthetic upgrade of the market.
Further, the Chief Secretary was instructed to closely monitor the progress of these initiatives and ensure that all grievances are addressed in a time-bound and effective manner.Reaffirming his commitment, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor emphasized the vision of positioning Kargil as a leading tourist destination, with enhanced urban infrastructure and improved civic amenities for both residents and visitors.
