The Indian Army organised an interschool debate competition on the occasion of World English Day to encourage students to enhance their communication skills, confidence, and critical thinking abilities. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools of the Drass region.
Two students each from PM Shri Government High School Thasgam Drass, PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbet, Government High School Kharboo Drass, and Government High School Kaksar participated in the competition. The programme was attended by a senior Army official as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Mansoor Hussain served as the Guest of Honour. Shri Akbar Ali attended the occasion as the Special Guest. Ms. Kaneez Fatima and Ms. Zaibun Nissa from Team Stringmo served as the jury members for the debate competition.
After a highly engaging and competitive debate session, Government High School Kaksar secured the first position, followed by Government High School Kharboo Drass in second place. PM Shri Government High School Thasgam Drass achieved the third position, while PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbet received a consolation prize for their commendable participation.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest motivated students to strive for excellence, work hard in their academic journey, and serve the nation with pride and dedication. He appreciated the enthusiasm and confidence displayed by the participating students during the debate competition.
On the occasion, the Indian Army also felicitated CBSE Class 10 topper Bintul Huda for her outstanding academic achievement and assured all possible support to students in their educational pursuits. The gesture reflected the Armyβs continued commitment towards youth empowerment, education, and community development in the region.
