9th Muharram Processions Held Across Kargil; Thousands Mourn Hazrat Abbas Alamdar

In Ladakh, devotees from various villages of Kargil district participated in the 9th Muharram mourning processions dedicated to Hazrat Abul Fazl Abbas (A.S.), the foster brother and standard-bearer of Imam Hussain.

The processions, organised under the banner of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil, converged in Kargil town from different villages. Passing through the main bazaar and other key areas, the processions concluded at the Isna Ashriya Campus and Hussaini Park respectively.

Addressing the mourners, religious scholars highlighted the exemplary role of Hazrat Abul Fazl Abbas in defending the cause of Islam and spoke about his honesty, loyalty, courage and sacrifice during the battle of Karbala.

Several Sabeel stalls were set up along the procession routes, where volunteers distributed water, beverages, fruits and food packets among participants and visitors.

The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the processions, including sanitation measures, security deployment, drinking water facilities and health camps. The events concluded peacefully amid an atmosphere of mourning and remembrance.
