DC Drass Reviews School and Library Facilities, Visits Kargil War Memorial
Drass, May 08, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho today paid a visit to Government Higher Secondary School Drass to review its functioning and assess the available and upcoming facilities.
During his visit to the School, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various sections of the institution including classrooms, laboratory, library, sanitation facilities and the overall campus environment. He interacted with the school administration, teaching staff and emphasized the importance of maintaining quality education. He interacted with students in and outside the classroom and spoke in detail about the importance of education.
While emphasizing the need to developing reading habits, he urged the students to hone their writing skills as well as public speaking skills. The students highlighted their concerns during the interaction.
He threw light on the need for improving CBSE Examination results and to increase enrolment in all schools of Drass District. The availability of teachers and the subjects being taught were also discussed.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the availability of basic infrastructure and directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper maintenance of educational facilities for the benefit of students. He inspected the construction site of the hostel within the campus and assured that the executing agency will be directed to expedite work on the project.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the School Library where he inspected the reading section and assessed availability and collection of books as well as other available facilities. He directed that students should be given easy access to the library and they should be encourage to read as much as possible. Further, he instructed the concerned officials to take necessary measures for strengthening library facilities and ensuring a better reading environment for the students preparing for examinations.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the area around Kargil War Memorial along with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate to assess arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs to Drass.
