In Ladakh, the people of Mulbekh village in Kargil today accorded a grand welcome to Smt. Kunzang Lhamo, a member of the ITBP All-Women Mount Everest Expedition, for successfully scaling Mount Everest on May 21 this year.
During the expedition, she hoisted the Indian National Flag atop the world’s highest peak, bringing pride to the region. Villagers, youth, local representatives, and well-wishers gathered to felicitate her and lauded her courage, dedication, and perseverance.
Addressing the gathering, speakers described her achievement as a source of inspiration for the younger generation, particularly women. They also noted that she is the first woman from Mulbekh village to summit Mount Everest, calling it a historic milestone for the village and the Kargil district.
The villagers extended their best wishes to Kunzang Lhamo for her future endeavours and expressed hope that her success would inspire many more youth from Ladakh to achieve excellence in adventure and mountaineering.
