Kargil, July 22, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today chaired a meeting in his office chamber to review arrangements for the smooth, peaceful and orderly observance of Chehlum (Arbaeen) e-Hussaini in the district.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B and Mechanical Divisions, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Assistant Directors of Information, Tourism and FCS&CA, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Kargil, Tehsildar Kargil, representatives of JUIAK, IKMT, SIDCO and other concerned officers.
During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on law and order, traffic management, sanitation, uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare facilities, emergency preparedness and other essential arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the religious observance.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance. He stressed timely execution of responsibilities and instructed officers to remain fully prepared to provide all essential services and facilitate devotees during the observance.
During the meeting, the representatives of the concerned religious organisations also discussed the issue regarding the timing of the Chehlum (Arbaeen) procession. It was decided that another meeting will be convened on July 27 or 28 with the heads of both religious organisations to deliberate on various issues to ensure smooth conduct of the processions.
The meeting concluded with all departments reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the peaceful, safe and well-organised observance of Chehlum (Arbaeen).
