 Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre, Health Wing IKMT, Inaugurates Free Knee, Hip & Shoulder Replacement Surgery Camp in Kargil

 Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre, Health Wing of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil, in collaboration with the Health Department Kargil, today inaugurated a Free Knee, Hip & Shoulder Replacement Surgery Camp at Qamar Ali Akhone Memorial (QAAM) Hospital, Kurbathang, Kargil, at 4:00 PM.

The five-day surgical camp, scheduled from 30th June to 4th July 2026, aims to provide advanced orthopaedic surgical care free of cost to deserving patients from Kargil and neighbouring areas.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Rakesh Kumar (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Atique Vasudev, Head, Department of Orthopaedics, Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, India, who is leading the team of specialist surgeons for the camp.

Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Mohd Abbas, Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr. Hajia Fatima Banoo, Medical Superintendent, QAAM Hospital, Kurbathang, Dr. Mohd Abbas, President, Al-Reza Health Care and Research Foundation, and Mr. Sheikh Sadiq Rajai, Chairman, Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil, along with senior doctors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and officials from the Health Department.

The dignitaries appreciated the collaborative initiative and highlighted the importance of providing advanced orthopaedic healthcare services free of cost to deserving patients in the region. They commended the efforts of Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre, IKMT Kargil, the Health Department, and the visiting team from Medanta for bringing world-class surgical expertise to Kargil.

Immediately after the inauguration ceremony, the dedicated team of orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, and medical professionals commenced surgical procedures. During the five-day camp, the medical team aims to perform more than four dozen knee and hip replacement surgeries, along with shoulder replacement surgeries for eligible patients, offering them a renewed opportunity to lead pain-free and active lives.
