Day 2: Kargil Mourns on Martyrdom of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei

Kargil, Ladakh – March 2, 2026: On the second consecutive day of mourning, a large and solemn procession of men and women took to the streets of Kargil to mourn the martyrdom of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The event was organized under the banner of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil Ladakh, and saw participation from diverse segments of the community, including locals, students, and religious scholars. 

The procession commenced from various parts of the town, where mourners assembled with portraits and banners, and proceeded peacefully through the main thoroughfares. Participants expressed their grief through solemn elegies, heartfelt prayers, and reflective speeches, underscoring the deep emotional impact of Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom on the global Shia community. 

Speakers at the gathering highlighted Ayatollah Khamenei’s lifelong leadership, ideological contributions, and steadfast commitment to principles of faith and resistance. They urged unity, strength, and continued adherence to values of peace and spirituality during this period of shared lamentation. 

The event concluded with a collective dua (prayer) for peace and stability in the Muslim world and for the souls of all those who have given their lives in defense of faith and justice. Organizers thanked the district administration and volunteers for their support in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the procession.
