Kargil, April 03, 2026 District Hospital Kargil Renamed in Honour of Late Sh. Qamar Ali Akhoon The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, through the General Administration Department, has officially approved the renaming of District Hospital Kargil in honour of Late Sh. Qamar Ali Akhoon, a distinguished leader and former Minister of the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir, who also served as the first Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Kargil.
As per Order No. 187-LA (GAD) of 2026 dated April 03, 2026, the hospital shall henceforth be known as “Qamar Ali Akhoon Memorial Hospital, Kargil.”This decision has been taken as a tribute to the immense contributions of Late Sh. Qamar Ali Akhoon towards the development and welfare of the region, particularly Kargil.
The Health & Medical Education Department has been directed to undertake all necessary الإجراءات, including updating official records and ensuring the implementation of the new name. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, will oversee the आयोजन of appropriate events to mark this significant occasion.
The Administration expressed confidence that this gesture will serve as a lasting recognition of Late Sh. Qamar Ali Akhoon’s legacy and inspire future generations.
