DISTRICT POLICE KARGIL (LADAKH) Traffic Plan / Advisory for 31st March 2026
Kargil, March 31, 2026: District Police Kargil hereby issues the following traffic plan/advisory for the smooth and safe movement of vehicles on various routes across the district. Travelers are advised to strictly adhere to timings and instructions in view of weather conditions and avalanche risks.
Kargil–Srinagar (SSG) Road (Green)
Subject to fair weather and road clearance, and only after receiving a green signal from BRO, LMVs followed by HMVs (up to six tyres only) equipped with anti-skid chains shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Minamarg.
- Timing: 0830 hrs to 1030 hrs from TCP Sonamarg
- Important: No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing due to avalanche threat
Kargil–Zanskar (Penzila) Road (Green)
Subject to favorable weather and road conditions, one-way traffic shall be permitted from Zanskar towards Kargil with anti-skid chains.
- Timing: 0800 hrs to 1100 hrs from TCP Chibra
- No vehicle movement shall be allowed after the cut-off timing
Kargil–Leh Road (Green)
The road remains open for vehicular movement, subject to weather and road conditions. Commuters are advised to remain cautious and follow traffic advisories.
Padum–Darcha–Shinkula Road (Green)
Subject to fair weather, traffic movement shall be allowed from Shinkula towards Darcha.
- Timing: 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs
- No vehicle shall be permitted after the cut-off timing
Nimoo–Padum (NPD) Road (Green)
The road remains open only on Sundays and Wednesdays.
- Mandatory: Anti-skid chains required for all vehicles
