New Delhi | May 13, 2026Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the BRICS member countries, being hosted by India.The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting brings together top diplomats from member nations to deliberate on major regional and international developments, strengthen multilateral cooperation, and enhance coordination on global economic, political, and security issues.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations in areas such as trade, sustainable development, energy security, connectivity, climate change, and reform of global governance institutions.During his visit, Foreign Minister Araghchi is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with several counterparts on matters of mutual interest, including regional peace, economic partnerships, and international diplomacy.
His participation reflects Iran’s continued engagement with emerging global platforms and its commitment to strengthening ties with BRICS nations amid evolving geopolitical circumstances.India, as the host nation, welcomed the participating delegations and reaffirmed the importance of BRICS as a major platform for dialogue, cooperation, and collective action among emerging economies.
The meeting is being attended by foreign ministers and senior officials from BRICS member states and partner countries.The visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister is considered significant in the context of growing regional and international diplomatic engagement, particularly at a time when global cooperation and strategic dialogue remain crucial for addressing shared challenges and promoting stability and development.
