Kargil Marks International Quds Day on Jumma-tul-Wida

In Ladakh, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan, Jumma-tul-Wida, was observed as International Quds Day across Kargil district today. The day was marked with rallies and gatherings held after Friday prayers to express solidarity with the people of Palestine.

In Kargil town, the main rally was organised under the banners of Jamiat Ul Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil, where a large number of people participated.

Similar rallies were also observed in different parts of the district under the leadership of respective Imam-e-Jummas.

Speakers on the occasion highlighted the significance of the day and said that International Quds Day was first called by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founding leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, nearly five decades ago. Since then, Muslims across the world observe the last Friday of Ramazan as International Quds Day to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.
