Drass, June 28: On the directions of the Director General of Police, Ladakh, Shri Anand Jain (IPS), District Police Drass today conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Eastern Portal of the strategically important Zojila Tunnel to assess and strengthen operational preparedness for any threat scenario involving critical infrastructure and tourist destinations.
Four small tactical teams participated in the exercise. The teams were led by the SHO Police Station Drass, Incharge Police Post Drass, Incharge Commando Unit of IR 25th Battalion stationed at the Tunnel Camp, and an NGO from Police Station Drass. Each team was assigned specific operational tasks aimed at evaluating coordination, response capability, and adherence to standard operating procedures during emergency situations.
The exercise was conducted under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Drass, Shri Ishtyaq A. Kacho (JKPS), who reviewed the performance of all participating teams. Detailed briefing and de-briefing sessions were also held to assess the effectiveness of the response mechanisms and identify areas for further improvement.
The mock drill forms part of the ongoing efforts of Ladakh Police to enhance readiness in safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety. District Police Drass reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, vigilance, and preparedness to protect residents, tourists, and strategically important assets in the region.
