Today, I held a detailed meeting with the Joint Secretary (PAI Division), Ministry of External Affairs, regarding Indian nationals, including residents of Ladakh, currently stranded in Iran.We discussed the safe evacuation of pilgrims, students, tullabs, and others affected. The Joint Secretary assured that the Government of India is taking all necessary steps and remains deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of its citizens. With Iranian airspace currently closed and sea routes also carrying risks, and considering the dangers at the borders of neighbouring countries, the Ministry is actively exploring all possible options for safe evacuation. The Indian Embassy in Iran is collecting data on all stranded Indian nationals and making efforts to reach out to every citizen there.Specific concerns of Ladakhi residents, including passport and visa-related issues, were also discussed. The Ministry has assured that these matters are being examined and full support will be provided. For the time being, I request everyone stranded in Iran to remain where they are and avoid any movement until further instructions. Efforts are also being made to move people from high-risk areas, including Tehran and other cities facing attacks, to safer locations within Iran.I remain in regular contact with the Ministry and will share updates as soon as they are received. The safety of every Indian national, including our people from Ladakh, remains our top priority.
