Sarfaraz Hussain Secures 3rd Position at Indian Oil Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon
Sarfaraz Hussain, son of Mohd Baqir, resident of Pashkum, Kargil, has brought pride to the region by securing 3rd position in his very first participation at the prestigious Indian Oil Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026 – Half Marathon Category.
The marathon, organized in collaboration with Indian Oil, was held at the world-famous Pangong Lake in Ladakh. Competing under extreme weather conditions on the frozen lake, Sarfaraz demonstrated exceptional stamina, determination, and sportsmanship.
By finishing in Third Position, he was awarded a cash prize of ₹20,000/- (Twenty Thousand Rupees Only) along with recognition at the national-level sporting event.
Notably, Sarfaraz Hussain is also a dedicated ice hockey player, actively representing and promoting winter sports in Ladakh. His achievement in the marathon highlights his athletic versatility and commitment to excellence in sports.
This accomplishment marks a proud moment for Pashkum village and the entire Kargil district. The local community and sports fraternity have congratulated Sarfaraz for his remarkable performance and wished him continued success in future competitions.
