SBI Bank Holidays: India’s Largest Bank to Remain Closed for 6 Days, Customers Advised to Complete Urgent Work Early
New Delhi, May 22: Customers of the State Bank of India are advised to complete their important banking work at the earliest, as the country’s largest public sector bank is reportedly set to remain closed for six days starting from May 23, 2026.
According to a report by Aaj Tak, SBI branches may remain shut between May 23 and May 28 due to weekly offs, regional holidays, and other scheduled closures. During this period, regular branch services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearances, passbook updates, and customer assistance may be affected in several regions.
Customers have been urged to avoid last-minute rush and complete important banking-related work before the holiday period begins. Despite the branch closures, digital banking services including YONO SBI, internet banking, mobile banking, ATM facilities, and online transactions are expected to continue functioning normally.
Customers are also advised to verify the official holiday schedule issued by SBI or contact their local branch for state-wise holiday details, as holiday schedules may differ across regions.
The extended closure may lead to increased crowd at branches and ATMs before and after the holiday period. Customers are therefore encouraged to make maximum use of digital banking platforms for uninterrupted services.
