Ashura-e-Hussaini Observed with Religious Fervour in Kargil

In Ladakh, Ashura-e-Hussaini, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala, was observed across Kargil district with deep reverence, devotion and mourning.

Thousands of mourners from different villages and localities participated in the Ashura processions organised under the banner of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil (JUAIK) and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil. The mourners marched through designated routes while reciting elegies and paying tribute to the sacrifices rendered by Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his loyal companions for the preservation of the true values of Islam.

Religious scholars addressing the gatherings highlighted the universal message of Karbala, emphasizing justice, truth, sacrifice, patience and resistance against oppression. They urged people to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and to uphold moral and humanitarian values in society.

Sabeel stalls were established at various locations where volunteers distributed drinking water, refreshments, fruits and food packets among mourners and visitors in remembrance of the thirst endured by the martyrs of Karbala.

The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the observance, including security deployment, sanitation measures, drinking water facilities, traffic regulation and medical camps. The Ashura processions concluded peacefully amid an atmosphere of solemnity and remembrance.
