URGENT EDUCATIONAL CONCERNS IN KARGIL
Kargil, Ladakh 06 April 2026
Kargil is currently facing serious challenges in its education sector as teacher shortages in several schools have begun to severely impact the quality of education. Following recent transfers, many institutions have been left understaffed, disrupting regular academic activities and leaving students without proper guidance.
Parents across the district have expressed deep concern over the situation. Many fear that the continued lack of adequate teaching staff will negatively affect their children’s academic future, with some even considering withdrawing their wards from schools if immediate action is not taken.
At the same time, aspirants appearing for the Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) examination conducted by the Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board have raised serious objections regarding the examination pattern and syllabus distribution. Candidates have pointed out a significant imbalance in the syllabus, alleging that it compromised fairness and equal opportunity.
Students and aspirants have collectively demanded:
• Immediate deployment of adequate teaching staff in affected schools
• A transparent review of the JSA examination process
• A fair re-examination to ensure justice for all candidates
• Prompt and effective administrative intervention
Speaking on the issue, student representatives emphasized that these challenges directly threaten both current education standards and future career opportunities. “We seek fairness, accountability, and urgent action. Our future cannot be compromised,” they stated.
The people of Kargil, including students, parents, and civil society members, stand united in urging the administration to address these pressing issues without delay. Failure to act swiftly may lead to further dissatisfaction and escalation of public concern.
Kargil awaits immediate action. The future of its students is at stake.
